Advisor Q&A

What learning experiences prepared you for this role?

My father was a carpenter in the San Francisco Bay Area and passed away unexpectedly.  After my father's passing, our family learned that my father had taken a single life pension and there were no financial reserves for my mother.  This mistake caused me to not only help my mother through retirement but the experience gave me the drive to assist other people though their retirement.  I feel I understand my client's decisions and the emotions that go into the retirement planning process much better than the average advisor.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I usually spend my day meeting with clients. I review their accounts and future plans. I also discuss investment strategies with my partners. Once a week I will host a seminar/webinar as a group educational event.

How important is educating clients in your process?

I think educating clients is the most important step of the process. Benjamin Franklin once said "An investment in knowledge pays the best interest." We want to be transparent and make sure at the end of the day you leave my meeting knowing how to improve your situation.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is being able to vicariously live through my clients. I love hearing all the great retirement plans my clients make. Whether its remodeling the house, a cross country road trip, or even just taking care of the grandkids every story has its charm and its amazing to help make these plans a reality.
